The founder of the project to establish the United Arab Emirates was Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father, whose leadership guided his people to a better life and future. Based on that, he once mentioned: We were like those who had climbed a mountain and reached the top. When we looked down, we still wanted to go higher to realise our goals. Despite all the achievements (within the UAE Federation), we still have an ambition for more. That is my way of looking at things. In this sense, the history of the United Arab Emirates is full of great moments, but also with many struggles and challenges like any other. From the 18th century on, it became a British Protectorate and the Emirati people lived modestly and survived from fishing and pearl farming in a landscape formed by the desert, mountains and the sea. Undoubtedly, this reality had changed from the moment oil was discovered in Abu Dhabi in the 1950s decade, and immediately from the desert land emerged cities, highways, hospitals, universities, skyscrapers, and a progress never seen before. In 2021, the UAE celebrated the 50th anniversary of its creation, launching new strategies and projects to develop the economy, tourism, investment, security and well-being for decades to come. This is a young country that preserves the values of tolerance, peace and multiculturalism with a population of 200 nationalities. In this revised and expanded new edition of the book will give the public the opportunity to discover the United Arab Emirates once more, based on its recent innovations, legislation, artificial intelligence, international cooperation, space program, and a multitude of other information in line with its innovation and prosperity.
